Qualcomm Debuts Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Chips; Motorola Reveals First Phone
Qualcomm unveiled two new flagship mobile platforms at its Snapdragon Summit, and Motorola announced the Signature 27 as the first phone to use the top-tier chip.

Qualcomm has introduced two new premium mobile processors, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, at its Snapdragon Summit held in Hawaii. According to Android Authority, both are the company's first mobile chips built around 5GHz CPUs.
The higher-end Extreme variant carries a range of video and imaging upgrades, including 8K video capture at 60fps and 4K slow-motion recording at 240fps. Android Authority reported that the Extreme chip also features a stronger GPU with Adreno Neural Fusion alongside more capable AI hardware. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 launched roughly a year earlier.
Qualcomm framed the dual launch as part of a multi-flagship strategy. In the company's announcement, Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, said the release of two flagship platforms delivers agentic AI experiences that are immediate, personal, and adaptive, and gives device makers greater choice.
