Basecamp Research raises $140m as Anthropic and Nvidia back AI drug developer
The London-based life sciences startup closed a $140m Series C led by S32, with Nvidia's venture arm and Anthropic's Anthology Fund among the investors.

Basecamp Research, a London-based life sciences startup that combines artificial intelligence with biodiversity data to design new treatments, has raised $140m in a Series C round.
The company, founded in 2019, is developing therapies aimed at cancer, autoimmune and other diseases. According to Tech.eu, the round is unusually large for a Series C. It was led by S32, the California venture firm founded by Bill Maris, who also founded GV, the venture arm of Alphabet.
Nvidia's venture unit NVentures took part as a returning investor, while Anthropic's Anthology Fund, a partnership between Anthropic and US venture firm Menlo Ventures, joined as a new backer. Other new investors include Catalio, the NATO Innovation Fund, Rockefeller, European Tech Collective and the UK government's Sovereign AI Fund. Returning investors include Firebrand, River Capital, King Philanthropies and Redalpine.
