Discord intends to make messages from eligible public servers available through Google and other search engines, according to a company blog post. The change is set to begin in mid-December 2026.
The move would make content from large public communities reachable by audiences beyond those servers. Private servers and direct messages are excluded from the change. However, in many regions, eligible messages will be searchable by default once the feature goes live.
Ahead of the rollout, Discord is adding privacy controls that allow both server administrators and individual users to opt out and keep their conversations off search engines. Android Authority reported that these controls currently require desktop or web access.
The plans have drawn privacy concerns, with some users expressing reservations about their conversations surfacing in Google search results.
