Apple's foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, has run into durability problems shortly after going on sale, according to reporting from Android Authority.
The device began shipping last Friday. Android Authority reported that a significant number of early buyers found the phone's inner display failing after limited use, with the most frequently shared examples showing a black line running from an edge toward the middle of the folding screen, joined at a right angle by a second, often thicker and colored, line.
The outlet said the problems were widespread enough that Apple publicly acknowledged the issue and confirmed it would provide free replacements to affected owners. Independent teardowns by JerryRigEverything and iFixit also pointed to weak screen durability, particularly around the center of the hinge, according to Android Authority.
