OpenAI is preparing to introduce invisible watermarks to text generated by its ChatGPT and Codex tools in the European Union, BleepingComputer reported.
The measure applies to AI-generated text produced within the EU. The report did not specify a start date for the rollout or the technical method used to embed the markers.
Separately, OpenAI is expanding advertising within ChatGPT. According to GSMArena, the company first introduced ads for free and Go users in February, displaying simple messages between chat exchanges. It is now adding a format it calls visual ads, which use larger imagery such as multiple thumbnails or a single screen-width image.
