Prediction market platform Kalshi has permanently banned former U.S. congressman George Santos and imposed a fine of $71,356, according to reporting by BitKE and CoinDesk. It is the platform's first-ever lifetime ban.
Kalshi said it found reasonable cause to believe Santos engaged in insider trading and market manipulation. According to BitKE, Santos made $17,839 by trading on a market tied to whether he would attend the 2026 State of the Union address, an event he was prohibited from trading on because he could directly influence its outcome.
