Double Fine Regains Independence From Xbox, Revives Amnesia Fortnight
The studio has recovered ownership of its IP and publishing rights after leaving Xbox, and is bringing back its community-driven game jam alongside a Kickstarter campaign.

Game studio Double Fine Productions has left Xbox and regained ownership of its intellectual property and publishing rights, according to GamesIndustry.biz.
The separation follows what TechPowerUp described as Xbox's year-long "reset." Double Fine had been acquired by Microsoft in 2019.
To mark its renewed independence, the studio is reviving Amnesia Fortnight, a game jam event in which staff pitch ideas and the community votes on which concepts move forward. It will be the first such event since 2019.
This edition will run alongside a Kickstarter campaign. Backers will vote on four finalists to be developed into prototypes, one of which the studio plans to turn into a small game. Double Fine said the campaign will help support its newly regained independence, as reported by TechPowerUp.
