Trump Mobile has increased the price of its T1 smartphone by $250, lifting the gold-colored handset from its original $499 promotional price to $749, according to Android Authority and Engadget.
Android Authority reported that the change was made without any official explanation, and that the update to Trump Mobile's T1 store listing was first spotted by The Verge. The publication noted that the increase places the device in the same price range as flagship handsets from major brands.
The phone's hardware has not changed. Android Authority reported that the T1 retains mid-range specifications and shares internal components with the HTC U24 Pro. Engadget similarly noted that an iFixit teardown found the T1 to be largely identical to an HTC device.
Android Authority attributed the higher price to industry-wide increases in memory chip costs.
