Sony will unveil a new addition to its Xperia smartphone range at an event scheduled for Tuesday, August 25 in Japan. The company said the launch will be streamed on YouTube starting at 11AM Japan time, which translates to 4AM CEST on August 26 for viewers in Europe.
Sony did not name the device, but according to GSMArena, recent leaks suggest it will be the Xperia 10 VIII, also referred to as the MK8. If that proves accurate, the release would arrive nearly a month earlier than last year's Xperia 10 VII, which came out in September.
A Geekbench listing has already surfaced for the handset, identified by the model number XQ-GH54. GSMArena reported that it is paired with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and 8GB of RAM. That is the same processor used in the previous Xperia 10 VII. The chip, announced in 2024, powered the device to 871 points in the single-core test and 3,028 in the multi-core test.
