Redditor Says Google's Fruit Fly Brain Simulation Learned to Play Balatro
A player claims they trained Google's mapped fruit fly brain to play the roguelike card game Balatro, reaching a 20% win rate on the easiest settings.

A Reddit user has claimed they trained a simulation of a fruit fly's brain, based on a map released by Google, to play the card game Balatro, according to reports from Tom's Hardware and Android Authority.
The user, identified as ActualAerie1011, shared a sped-up video showing the model apparently playing a winning match. Both outlets report the model currently has a win rate of about 20%, achieved on the game's easiest difficulty setting (White Stake) using the default Red Deck. The user says training is ongoing and the model could improve.
Google recently published a complete mapping of the brain and central nervous system of an adult male fruit fly. Tom's Hardware notes that enthusiasts have since applied the structure to a range of tasks, including simulated stock trading and parallel parking.
