Oshen and Twin1 AI Raise Fresh Capital to Scale Ocean Robots and Digital Twins

Oshen was founded in 2022 by Imperial College engineers Anahita Laverack and Ciaran Dowds. Laverack, who serves as CEO and co-founder, told EU-Startups that roughly seventy per cent of the planet is ocean and that little of it can be observed in real time, describing the challenge as a manufacturing problem rather than a sensing one.

Separately, Twin1 AI has raised $20 million in seed funding as it emerged from stealth, Ventureburn reported. The company develops AI-powered digital twins for knowledge workers, designed to preserve professional knowledge, judgment and working context and to extend that expertise through AI. Each twin evolves with a professional's work and can access authorised emails, meetings, documents and workplace systems to answer questions and support business tasks. The company said its system can strengthen existing AI agents with deeper professional context.

The Twin1 round was co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners, Tribeca Venture Partners and Aramco Ventures. The company plans to expand its teams in San Mateo and London and to invest in go-to-market activities and further technology development. Twin1 has built six layers of privacy and governance controls that combine enterprise policies, existing permissions and human approval requirements to govern interactions between people, twins and AI systems.

Gravis Robotics, spun out of ETH Zurich, has raised $200 million from SoftBank in what the company calls the largest Series A in construction robotics, reaching a $1 billion valuation.
