A meme coin called LAPTOP, associated with Hunter Biden, plunged almost immediately after it began trading on the Base network in September 2026, according to reporting from Decrypt and CoinDesk.
The token reached a peak price within minutes of its launch before collapsing. Decrypt reported that LAPTOP hit a high of $190.81 shortly after opening on Base, then dropped roughly 99% as limited liquidity coincided with heavy selling. CoinDesk reported that the token swung from around $190 to below $4 within minutes, and characterized the debut with a $1.6 billion market capitalization, noting the token lost 98% of its value in under an hour.
CoinDesk also reported that onchain records indicated tokens had been distributed to market makers for a week before trading began. Decrypt described the launch as one that peaked two minutes after going live and shed nearly all of its value on the same day.
