Google is extending Play Store support to apps created with its AI Studio tool, allowing users to run their so-called vibe-coded Android apps without the previous friction of sideloading.
Starting now, apps built in AI Studio can be launched from Google Play much like any publicly available Android app, according to Android Authority. The move is aimed at smoothing a process that had been awkward, since AI Studio made it straightforward to begin building an app but less so to actually run the resulting code on a device.
The initial rollout is focused on personal apps. Android Authority reported that Google plans to expand the capability to allow limited group sharing at a later point.
Engadget reported that the change is part of a wider revamp of the Play Store for the AI era, with adjustments spanning publishing, recommendations and other areas. It also noted that users will be able to distribute vibe-coded Android apps using just a Google account.
