An exploit targeting Coldcard Bitcoin wallets has pushed observed losses toward $114 million, according to Decrypt, which cited Galaxy Research flagging a likely fourth wave of thefts.
Galaxy Research had earlier reported that a third wave of thefts brought observed losses to roughly 1,367 BTC drained across 4,585 addresses. At current prices, BitKE valued that figure at nearly $89 million and described the incident as one of the largest failures of Bitcoin self-custody in recent years. According to BitKE, the attack has unfolded across three coordinated waves and targets self-custody through cryptographic key generation rather than through malware or phishing.
