OpenAI has begun rolling out a feature called locked chats for ChatGPT, giving users a way to keep selected conversations out of general view. According to Android Authority, the option lets people hide chosen chats from their regular chat history, pinned chats, and search, similar in concept to the locked folder available in Google Photos.

Android Authority noted that locked chats are not end-to-end encrypted. The outlet also said it had found evidence in August pointing to OpenAI developing the capability, which has now started to reach users.
