The National Basketball Association (NBA) has selected Kalshi and Polymarket as its preferred prediction market exchanges and agreed to work with United States regulators on oversight, as the sector draws increased attention over insider trading and the integrity of sports-related contracts.
According to BitKE, the partnerships will limit the kinds of markets the operators can list, bar league and team staff from trading contracts linked to NBA events, and require the sharing of information on suspicious trading activity and investigations.
The league also entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) aimed at strengthening cooperation and information sharing on prediction-market integrity. BitKE reported that the arrangement follows comparable deals the regulator struck with Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League. Decrypt similarly noted that the agreement establishes information-sharing to guard against insider trading as sports betting shifts toward CFTC-regulated venues.
