Gallium Defense, a Paris-based startup developing drone detection technology, has come out of stealth with a €7.1 million seed funding round. The round was led by Keen Venture Partners and 360 Capital, with participation from Omnes Capital and Polytechnique Ventures. According to EU-Startups, the announcement coincided with European Defence Week 2026, held from 2 to 6 November in Paris.
The company is developing the GDS-10, a software-defined, X-band active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar designed to detect first-person-view (FPV) drones at ranges of up to 10 kilometres, and to do so at a fraction of the cost of conventional systems. Its target specifications include 360-degree horizontal and 90-degree vertical coverage, drone swarm tracking, resistance to jamming, and operation day and night in all weather conditions. Two versions are being developed: one aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and another for military use.
