Apple has introduced the HomePod mini 2, a second-generation version of its compact smart speaker that arrives roughly six years after the original model. Pre-orders open at a price of $149, with the speaker reaching stores on October 30, according to Android Authority.
The exterior largely mirrors the first-generation design, so the two models are difficult to tell apart at a glance. Apple has added two new color choices, pink and green, to help distinguish the newer unit.
A key addition is "Sound Glow," a feature that turns the top surface into a light display that responds to bass and treble in real time and shifts color to match a song's album artwork, as reported by Android Authority.
