
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 Brings New Features but Also Home Screen Bugs
Google's latest Android 17 QPR2 beta adds an App Lock and redesigned Quick Settings, but some Pixel users report broken widgets and glitchy home screens.

Google's newest test build of Android, Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3, launched on August 14, 2026, according to TechCabal, which described it as the largest build in the current update cycle. The release adds several features, including a native App Lock, a redesigned Quick Settings editor, additional lock screen blur, deeper colour customisation, and new protection against call-forwarding fraud.
Alongside the new features, however, the beta appears to carry bugs affecting the home screen. Android Authority reported that the update can disrupt the Pixel Launcher and the home screen, break the ability to add new widgets, and jumble the app drawer. Some users also reported touchscreen problems following installation.
