Tesla has set a new timeline for its Optimus humanoid robot, with CEO Elon Musk saying the company expects to begin delivering units to external customers around the end of 2027. Speaking on Tesla's third-quarter 2026 earnings call, Musk said the robot's hands, its durability, and its AI systems all require further development before shipments can start, according to Electrek.

Separately, Tesla indicated it plans to start selling its Cybercab to other transport companies before the end of 2026. Engadget reported that the automaker wants to offer the autonomous vehicle to outside operators within that window. According to InsideEVs, Musk said the majority of Cybercabs will nonetheless remain owned by Tesla itself.
